One fine day, JLEM sent this:
Dear studentsHe should know better that we are not VERY honest people, only sometimes.
I have noticed that more and more names of the attendees have been written by one person representative of particular groups. There are for instance a group of 5 names and many groups of 2 names with the same handwriting (i.e. written by a different person for each group)
This could mean two things... either
1) you have adopted a buddy system to cover one another in periods of absence; or
2) you have a very efficient group representative
As the attendance carries 20% of your module grade, it does affect your final grade and thus would be unfair to those who attends the lectures regularly.
You must have noticed that I have not arranged a LIVE webcast for the lectures, precisely because I want you to attend the lectures. The recorded lectures are uploaded on IVLE for reference when you do your seminar assignment. It is not an indication that you can skip the lectures.
As such, please write your own name yourself for the remaining lectures that you attend.
If you don't want to attend the lectures, then don't ask your friend to write your name for you.
The least you can do is to be honest about it.
Visited Church of St Mary of the Angels on the first day of the 7th month. I felt watched. But it is BEAUTIFUL!
Masterpiece of WOHA.
Interesting exhibition room @ Bras Basah. Very very interesting. It just got the plywood scent that I’m obsessed with. Unfortunately I almost tripped on the powerpoint located at a mere 50mm off the floor. Very bad planning.
The 2-weeks project concept – Mr Starman’s morning woes.
Went Urban Hiking.
Piet Mondrian spotted @ VivoCity
I missed Robert!
@ PageONE. Was rather tempted to buy the Escher calendar, but the bookshelves made me want to vomit, so I escaped.
Granted a wish for GAW’07 on Tuesday. So I embarked on Urban Hiking Part 2 to find the ‘Initial D’ car. In two hours, I went to Arab Street, Tai Sing, Sunshine Plaza, Peace Centre, Parklane, Far East, Wheelock Place, Lucky Plaza and back to Arab Street to complete the purchase.
The new La-Salle campus. So Steven Holl. So Daniel Libeskind. A masterpiece of RSP Architects.
Discovered new features in the town bus-stops! New bus guide maps and electronic indicators of bus arriving time. I like the map now, being so visual instead of wordy. But the bus arriving indicator was rather inaccurate. Bleh~
Still so tranquil and mysterious. Haji Lane.
My beloved banyan @ Sultan Gate.
The pedestrian walkway in front of the new Scotts Square (a 43-storey luxury residential tower with 338 international quality one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and a stylish retail podium) has exactly the same lighting details as St Mary! Are they the works of WOHA? Or maybe beautiful things tend to be copied? Damn, the apartments are luxurious!!! Even more luxurious than owning a permanent room in Hyatt!
In future nobody will be found on the road because (almost) everybody will live/work/eat/play in the same building. Like staying in studio like that...
Do you want a life like that?
