Have been Google-ing a lot while I was watching Season 2 - to recap the plot of Season 1 and the plots in all the novels that I've read many years back.
One major shift from the novels is the time setting of the meeting between Clarice Starling and Dr Lector in the early 1990s. But the setting in the TV series is in current day. So I can say the formation/development of the Chesapeake Ripper would be much different. Dr Lector certainly do not look like a man in his 70s for him to witness the death of Mischa in WW1.
After 26 hours of glamorous cinemotography, queer BGM and flawless acting, the characters from the novels have blended into a dish of delicious mash-up. Gender-change, new characters, more insights into the original characters, shifting timelines, more psychopaths, more gourmet cooking, and the list goes on.
Now I'm so looking forward to what is there to come. And that cliff-hanger, omg, who's going to survive the Ripper?
